Beginner
You are trying hard not to lose the
rhythm while practising your basic step.
You can do a shaky cross body lead and
some single turns. The best thing is that
it’s all new and magical, so you’ve got
that smile that makes you stand out.
B
Improver
You have learned a few turn patterns
and some shines. Still you find it hard to
actually use them because the variety of
different music and dance partners
confuses you. But you have already
smelt blood and it keeps you going.
I
Intermediate
Again you know some more turn
patterns and shines but now you’re
trying to make them fit to the music
adding some body movement even if the
outcome is not always what you have
planned for. There’s still much to learn.
i
Semi-Advanced
Your repertoire of shines, moves and
turn patterns is growing. You feel more
ready to actually find the right
movements and turn patterns for the
rhythms you hear. You are probably
checking out different styles of Salsa
now: on2, LA, New York, Cuban …
M
Advanced
Your knowledge of dancing doesn’t only
consist of technical elements and
different styles of Salsa anymore but also
you know how to use Salsa to express
your feelings against a musical
background. You’re becoming a popular
social dancer already.
O
Master
Salsa for life! Teaching, choreographing
performing, learning about the cultural
background behind the dance(s). On the
dancefloor you are sincerely respected
by other artists and adapt to dance
partners / music seemlessly knowing
that less can be more in social dance.
